About Quantize

Why this exists

Most free image compressors online make you upload one photo, wait, download it, then repeat the whole process for the next one — while showing you ads the entire time and never telling you exactly how much smaller the file actually got. Quantize does the opposite: drop in as many images as you want, watch the real byte counts shrink in front of you, and get everything back in one zip.

What "Quantize" means

It's the real name for the step inside JPEG and WebP compression that throws away detail the human eye barely notices, to make the file smaller. That's the whole mechanism this tool is built around — nothing more mysterious than that.

How it's different

Everything happens locally in your browser using the canvas your browser already has built in — no images are ever uploaded to a server. Beyond the usual quality slider, you can also set an exact target file size (like "keep this under 500KB") and the tool will automatically find the right compression level to hit it, instead of you guessing and re-exporting over and over.
